Surrey Artist Sarah Cox exhibits at Barnett Hill
Surrey artist Sarah Cox will be exhibiting at Barnett Hill for the first time this Autumn. Both the hotel and Sarah share a love of the Surrey Hills and Sarah’s A Sense of Place exhibition is inspired by places that she connects with whilst walking through the beautiful countryside that surrounds the hotel.
In particular, A Sense of Place has been inspired by the farmland beneath The Chantries and around Wotton and the nearby National Trust property Clandon Park. Visitors can expect to be wowed by seasonal changes in the local landscape with scenes of rapeseed, poppies and flax fields, all displayed in the public areas of the hotel.
Sarah works on a variety of scales and particularly enjoys creating large scale statement pieces. She likes to contrast elements of tight structured paint work with loose atmospheric washes and gestural marks. Colour & texture are dominant and visitors can expect to see a mixture of sweeping brush strokes and palette knife work. Her work is multi layered and built up and scraped back over time to add depth and textural variety to each piece.
Sarah comments ‘’I am incredibly excited to be exhibiting in such a prestigious hotel. Barnett Hill is nestled in the Surrey Hills and sits within stunning grounds which offer direct access to some of my favourite walks. I can’t wait to share my new, local landscape paintings with all the hotel’s guests & visitors.’’
Ian Heath, Operations Director said: “We’re thrilled to be hosting Sarah’s first solo exhibition at Barnett Hill this Autumn and just know that our guests are going to love her striking vibrant paintings that really showcase the beautiful area in which Barnett Hill proudly sits’’.
The exhibition is open to both hotel residents and locals alike from 26th August – 11th November, with most of the paintings also available for sale.
