Alexander House Dog Friendly Wedding
Chloe and Karla married with us at the end of July and generously agreed to share the details of their beautiful dog friendly wedding at Alexander House with us, which included their gorgeous cockapoo Beau who acted as ring bearer!
How long have you been together and how was the proposal?
We have been together for four years and Chloe proposed to Karla at home.
How did you start planning your wedding? What were your first steps?
After 2 years of being engaged we decided we didn’t want to wait any longer. We looked into wedding venues who could be flexible with taking bookings at short notice. Note, Sophie & her wedding planning team at Alexander House are experts at this!
Describe the 1st time you visited Alexander House.
We wanted a dog-friendly wedding venue, close to home, within a rural setting and which offered an intimate wedding package. We were already familiar with the venue having attended a wedding at Alexander House the previous year and it felt like the right fit for us too.
How long did you take between becoming engaged and tying the knot?
We took two and a half years between getting engaged and tying the knot.
What was your colour scheme / theme? Where did you find the inspiration for your wedding day?
Our theme was neutrals with accents of silver, with a pop of pink in our floral arrangements.
What cultures, traditions, quirks or unusual ideas did you incorporate into your day?
We knew Beau, our cockapoo, had to be a part of our day and that we wanted her to be our ring bearer. It was important to us that Beau was looked after as well as we were and she thoroughly enjoyed the endless attention and doggy afternoon tea given to her by Alexander House. We think Beau looks quite delighted with her doggy afternoon tea!
How did you find the perfect dresses? How many shops did you need to visit / dresses did you try on before you found The One?
As we had only booked our wedding with 5 months’ notice this meant we were limited on dresses to choose from. After visiting several bridal stores and trying on a lot of dresses we both finally found our perfect dresses at Wild Flora who were on Alexander’s House list of recommended suppliers.
Tell us about the bridesmaids’ dresses?
We chose not to have a bridal party besides our dog who stole the show (we think she did too!) with her corsage and matching bridal collar & lead
What menu did you choose?
After visiting Alexander House for a wedding menu tasting we chose:
Starter – Warm Scotch duck egg
Main – Braised shoulder of lamb Wellington
Dessert – Iced banana parfait
What was your favourite moment of the day?
Exchanging our vows and spending time with our family & friends. We loved every moment of it.
What was your first dance?
Coldplay – A Sky Full of Stars
Any top tips that you’d like to share for future Alexander House couples?
Trust your wedding coordinator, and don’t be afraid to ask any questions, they will go above and beyond for you to make sure your day is as special as they can for you. And if you’re thinking of having your dog be a part of your day at Alexander House… do it!
Looking back, is there anything you’d do differently?
We would’ve made time to sit down and enjoy our evening buffet but we were too excited to eat. Our guests said how amazing it was!
Is there anything else you’d like to tell us?
We would like to say another big thank you to all the staff at Alexander House for their help on the day and in the run up to our wedding. Everything was executed perfectly. Alexander House is where dreams are made.
