Planning the perfect Autumn Wedding at Langshott Manor
Written by Lauren Russell, Ambience Venue Styling
Langshott Manor, with its dark wood features and magnificent deciduous trees in the grounds is wonderfully suited to autumn weddings. From September to November, nature is bursting with inspiration in terms of colours and textures that can be incorporated into your styling. If you are an autumn bride or groom-to be, here are 5 key ideas to get you thinking…
1. Lighting
The days are starting to get shorter which means there is more time to enjoy the magical atmosphere of candlelight and fairy lights that give the Manor a wonderfully cosy feel. Consider how candles could feature in your centrepieces and make the most of the venue’s open fireplaces by dressing them up and making them into a feature for everyone to admire. Then just before sunset, don’t forget to get some couple shots under the hopelessly romantic weeping willow tree, when the sky has that mellow autumnal glow.
2. Colours
A warm tonal colour palette that reflects the yellows, oranges and reds of the falling leaves is always a winner. Rich shades of green also work well teamed with gold metallic accents. As well as bridesmaid dresses and bridal flowers, the colours you choose can be brought through into your table styling with coloured napkins or table runners.
3. Seasonal details
Its harvest time so there is an abundance of elements that can be included in your décor to add an extra layer of texture and interest. These little flourishes could include leaves, acorns, conkers, pine cones, fresh fruits and of course, pumpkins. Why not talk to your cake maker about how to bring these into your design? Autumnal themed cakes are simply divine.
4. Flowers/foliage
At this time of year ferns and grasses are ideal for floral arrangements and they work particularly well in loose styles as they add softness and movement. Berries are also a lovely additional to add colour and visual interest.
5. Signage
Finally, your signage and stationery are perfect for weaving in the autumnal theme throughout your day. Welcome your guests as they enter the front door with a personalised sign adorned with a garland in your theme colours. Then get creative with place names and table numbers which could include a motif with one of more of the seasonal details mentioned above.
