Summer on The Royal Riviera
Just in case you need some persuasion we thought we’d give you a suggestion or two on how to while away a couple of nights on the Royal Riviera.
DAY ONE
Draw up at Great Fosters and you know you are going to experience something special. Arrive in time for an early afternoon tea on the terrace, overlooking the spectacular gardens.
Afterwards bask on a lounger by the 1930s art deco pool with a cocktail (or two!) in hand or perhaps enjoy a relaxing massage or facial in our new Utopia Retreat.
Choose from an informal supper in The Estate Grill or if it’s warm enough dine al fresco (there are cosy blankets aplenty just in case it turns chilly).
If you’re staying with us from Wednesday to Saturday why not upgrade to a gastronomical tasting experience in Tony Parkin in The Tudor Room – please remember to book in advance as The Tudor Room is extremely popular. After supper sink into a sofa and sip on a digestiv prepared by our expert bar team.
DAY TWO
Wake up refreshed and treat yourself to a full English breakfast or perhaps a pretty avo on toast before taking a morning wander through the gardens to see the David Harber sculpture exhibition and take in the perfume in our magnificent rose garden.
Take a trip to nearby Windsor to visit the oldest inhabited castle in the world and the Queen’s favourite (but don’t tell the others). If you’re feeling energetic park outside the Fox & Hounds pub next to the Bishopsgate entrance to Windsor Great Park (weekdays) or park in Savill Garden car park at weekends) and stroll past the Copper Horse and down the long walk into Windsor where the views of Windsor Castle are unparalleled (takes about an hour and you can always taxi back!).
Windsor has some fabulous independent stores and winding streets to explore. We can recommend the historic Two Brewers for lunch which is right at the end of the Long Walk (reservations strongly recommended).
After your day in Windsor, either walk back up to your car (the walk is uphill on the way back so takes a little longer) but the park is peacefully quiet later on in the day. Once back at Great Fosters relax on the terrace with an aperitif, admiring the view before supper in The Estate Grill.
DAY THREE
Perhaps an invigorating early morning swim before a guilt free full English breakfast. Spend a couple of hours by the pool until 11am or if the sun is shining extend your stay until 1pm for an extra £50.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Royal Riviera very soon! If you fancy some more inspiration, why not have a peruse of what other things there are to do in the local area by clicking here, and we’ve put together suggestions selected for families too here.
