72 hours in the Surrey hills

Because just a couple of days in the heart of the Surrey Hills simply isn’t enough, when you book two night’s bed and breakfast, the third night’s on us. We’ve put together the perfect 72-hour guide to ensure you get the best from your stay in the glorious home counties. So whether you’re a self-confessed foodie or a budding botanist, there really is something for everyone.

Day one

For the foodies

Take a trip to Silent Pool, the famous boutique gin distillery, which is just a 10-minute cab ride or a 40-minute walk. Embark on a tour of the distillery and enjoy a bite to eat at one of the beautiful country pubs en route back to the hotel, such as The Percy Arms. Let them know you’re staying with us to enjoy a complimentary glass of fizz with your lunch. Enjoy a Silent Pool cocktail (or two) before taking supper in our 2-rosette restaurant, The Oak Room.

Day two

For the budding botanists..

Just a 15-minute drive from the hotel is Winkworth Arboretum. Established in the 1940s by Dr Wilfred Fox, the Arboretum has over 1,000 species of tree and shrub. It’s the perfect place for a spot of ‘forestbathing’, and afterwards, you can take tea in their famous Boathouse. Retire to Barnett Hill for supper on the terrace and watch the sun set over the Surrey Hills.

Day three

For the explorers

Nestled right in the heart of the Surrey Hills is the spectacular Polesden Lacey House. Renovated in the early 20th century for socialite Margaret Greville, no expense was spared. King George VI even honeymooned there! After exploring the beautiful grounds and gardens, head back to Barnett Hill (just over an hour away) and settle in for supper on the terrace.
